He has developed quite fast even though I am still worried whether he might be behind others in terms of learning.
In school, he still behaves the same. Will be playing with toys while the teacher is reading a book or discussing. However, the teacher said he's multi-tasking cos he shows that he did pay attention to her as he was able to answer her questions about the story. He still has the habit of going to the play kitchen and the teacher will call out, "Who's missing?" and he'll quietly put back the things and strolled back as if he has never left the class before. Dunno whether to laugh or to punish him. Haiz... When will he learn to be more disciplined?
In terms of singing, he's able to sing a complete song such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and to do the actions even though he might not hit the correct pitch.
As for Chinese, I was rather amazed that he could recognise the chinese words such as 'kou'(mouth), 'shou' (hand), 'tian' (sky), 'ri' (day), etc. I was thinking of buying him some Chinese books and I showed him some pages. Surprisingly, he just pointed at the word 'Shou'and read it aloud. I then showed him the other words and he could read them as well.
he is also able to write 'kou'. Was trying to get him to spell his name since my sis has taught him to spell some basic words but he refuses. Instead, he took the crayon and wrote something like a n and i was saying, 'no... Kayden, write your name' and he just replied, 'no, mummy, kou' and he continued to draw the line that ends off the character. Children are just amazingly clever in their own way. Din expect him to be able to write at all.
However, he's not so good in naming colours in Chinese even though he could do it perfectly in English.
he's not so advanced in English yet. He could identify all the letters in the alphabet and made the sound for each letter but could not read any word yet. He has a rather good memory and is able to spell words like 'red', 'white', 'cat' which my sister has taught him. So far, he is able to form letters with straight lines using sticks or straws. I also discovered this in an unexpected manner. Was giving him ice cream sticks to count when he suddenly used 3 sticks to form A and shouted out A. So i encouraged him to try and true enough, he could form other letters such as F, H, I, V, etc.
His favourite subject is Mathematics and he is able to count to 20, trace and write 1 - 5 as mentioned by his teacher. He just enjoys counting everything and watching the lift panel. He also enjoys looking for things of the 4 basic shapes.
The most worrying of his development process is his social and emotional development. While he is able to interact with my family, he tend to be very quiet and withdraw from others in public. He doesn't greet people either but will be very happy to say goodbye to others and to go off. Don't know how to improve on this though.
